I am not. † In the beginning speech of Richard III, Richard tells the audience that he will â€Å"prove a villain† and now, after analyzing himself, he realizes that he has successfully proved himself. But he hesitates, he is uncertain about this acceptance as he tells himself â€Å"Yet I lie. I am not†. Instead of congratulating himself and gloating about his success, he wants to deny this. This can be compared to Richard’s reaction and character after he successfully deceives Lady Anne into falling in love with him. He was more than proud of his villainy and did not hesitate one second to hide it. His robust, spirited personality is entirely changed in this passage as he now resents the crimes he committed. In the next line, Richard says â€Å"Fool, of thyself speak well. Fool, do not flatter† which in this clause, Shakespeare utilizes anaphora as well as (an-tith-e-ses) together to get Richard’s message along. So far, from what he has already said, his confidence has obviously dropped dramatically as he continued to look further into his past actions. Therefore, when he says â€Å"Fool, of thyself speak well†, he is comforting himself, trying to regain his posture as a villain. But he then balances this phrase out by saying â€Å"Fool, do not flatter†. The use of antithesis shows Richard’s cunning and undeniably smart character once again as he regulates himself so that he will not go overboard with comforting himself. Also, the use of anaphora on the word â€Å"Fool† allows the audience to be certain Richard is referring to the same part of his conscience. It also shows how Richard perceives himself at that moment which is vulnerable and weak. But this line altogether shows how Richard is in such a weak state that he goes through the trouble to not only comfort himself, but also to remind himself not to gloat. In the next section (194-200), Richard moves on from arguing with his conscience, to thinking about the crimes he has committed. The section starts with a metaphor comparing his conscience with a creature with several tongues showing that there are many different voices in Richard’s conscience. This line ties in with the next two lines smoothly with the help of (an-uh-dip-lo-sis). The word â€Å"tongue† is brought up again in the beginning of the next line which is followed by reiterating the word â€Å"tale† from the end of the last line. These lines also lead to a climax; the tongues of Richard’s conscience all have a tale to tell which overall accuses Richard for a villain. Opposite from the recently mentioned lines, lines 197-199 use epistrophe to emphasize the different ways the word â€Å"degree† is used to portray how he is accused of murder and sinned on. This last part of this section displays how Richard knows how people perceive his villainy which he himself finds terrifying. He now understands his guilt which he could not have before his revelation. The last section of this excerpt starts at line 201 and ends at 207. The tone of Richard in this section turns pessimistic as he resides to accepting his misery. He knows that he is genuinely hated and he accepts this. â€Å"There is no creature loves me, / And if I die no soul will pity me†. Here, Richard clearly states how not even a creature or a soul so much as pities him. He also realizes that he does not even expect pity as he has no pity for himself. This brings to show how Richard’s insensitivity has come back. He is slowly regaining his posture as an apathetic villain. Finally, the re-hardened Richard comes to full play in the last few lines (from 205-207) of this passage which is shown through its stable structure. â€Å"Methought the souls of all that I had murdered / Came to my tent, and every one did threat / Tomorrow’s vengeance on the head of Richard† The speech is ot once broken and he confidently dictates it in full comprehensive sentences displaying the full recovery of Richard as the machiavel. This passage gives the audience the final hint that Richard’s downfall is unavoidable. Even though he did recover from his largest obstacle, back to the strong and confident villain he once was, it was in-ev-it-able for this scene to be fully forgotten. The Taipei Municipal Government awarded development rights by tender for this Build-Operate-Transfer project, the first ever in Taiwan, to an unprecedented consortium of investors. The mission is to develop a state-of-the-art building that forms an integral part of the infrastructure for advancing Taipei towards becoming one of the Asia Pacific Financial Centers. This project symbolizes the outstanding achievements of Taiwans economic development. In many aspects, the new building is the most technologically advanced skyscraper constructed to date. The building feature fiber-optic and satellite Internet connections allowing speeds up to 1 gigabyte per second. It has the worlds fastest elevators which run at a top speed of 1008 meters per minute. Architectural Intention The architecture intention of Taipei 101 has been derived from early period in history. Associated with combination of style and culture from Greek, Egyptian, Gothic period, and most importantly the Roman architecture. The Greek column structures were used to build its structures, the gothic point arch, and pointed rib vaulted construction were used to build up its structure. There are many aspects about the gothic architecture that reflected in the making of Taipei 101, such as the architects would build high ceilings which would make the building look absolutely massive. Taipei 101 is no longer viewed as simple shelter to provide roof over peoples head. The architectural plan is designed with a more environmental conscious issue. The interior environment is designed according to the space of the structures. For instance, the interior are divided into segments such as malls, observatories, restaurants, and business offices. Form and Faà §ade The form of Taipei 101 is inspired by traditional Chinese architecture, with a shape resembling a pagoda. If look closely, the sectioned tower is also inspired by the bamboo plant, which is a model of resilience, elegance, and strength. Symbolism Taipei 101 incorporates many features of symbolic significance. The next obstacle in erecting a super skyscraper, and perhaps the biggest one, is wind. Tall buildings actually sway in the breeze, in much the same way that a diving board bends under the weight of a diver. Building an edifice that doesnt topple over in the wind is easy enough. The real challenge is keeping the structure so stiff that it doesnt swing too far, cracking partitions, shattering windows and making the upper occupants seasick. Taipei 101 is designed to hold out against earthquakes and typhoon winds which are the most occurrence cataclysms in Asia pacific. The building will not move an inch even if the earthquake reaches 7 degrees on a Richter scale and the wind power never know n to man. To insure and prevent such cataclysms to destroy the building, the first 25 floors are reinforced by adding another four exterior walls and all eight segments were restructured, every one of them having the same exterior leaning angle of 90 degrees with the same dimension. This illusion creates the never ending column. Another support for stability of the building structure is the interior spiral stair and steel pillars filled with concrete to make the stiffness of the structure. Engineers also developed a new architectural concept called the mega column which derived from the Greek column structure. The mega column is the most durable structure, having two centers. The first one is made out of numerous steel columns filled with concrete, linked by the second segment the other columns is the neo-gothic girders which connect all column in a center resembling pyramid. Taipei 101 has a giant mass damper to keep building in balance. The damper will reduce the towers peak vibra tions by more than one third. The main purpose is to ensure that the steel ball stays in control and does not swing wildly. To prevent damage during earthquakes, dampers have a locking device that will be automatically triggered. The locking device will prevent damper from moving independently. The damper is visible from the restaurant and bar which encircles space around the ball. The overall structure is reinforced by a moment frame system linking all the columns on all floors. My Thoughts and Arguments Taipei 101 has a very distinctive design and look about it that makes it very striking. Everything looked so appetizing compared to the usual American mall food court, with the help of food models attractively displayed at each of the almost 100 stands. It is important to calculate a firm’s cost of capital in order to determine the feasibility of a particular investment for a firm. I do not agree with Joanna Cohen’s WACC calculation. She calculated value of equity, value of debt, cost of equity, and cost of debt all incorrectly. For value of equity, Joanna simply used the number stated on the balance sheet instead of multiplying the current stock price by the number of outstanding shares. The correct calculation is $42.09 x 271.5M = $11,427.435M. The correct method of calculating the value of debt is to multiply the price of publicly traded bonds by the amount of debt outstanding. For this assignment, I had to plan, be involved in and review two interactions within health and social care, one had to be one-to-one role play, and the other had to be a group role play. I am going to write a detailed description off the skills I used in the interactions, and explain my strengths and weaknesses of my interpersonal skills that I used in each interaction. One-to-one role playIn the one-to-one role play, I was always giving Student A, good eye contact. I smiled when Student A came in to the room, to ensure that I was friendly, and I was not going to be a threat towards her. When I was communicating with Student A, I made sure I was leaning forward, so that Student A could see that I was taking interest in what she was saying. Also, I made sure that I was facing Student A in a slight angle to ensure a relaxed and friendly feeling. One-to-one role play:StrengthsIn the one-to-one role pla y, I was acting professionally and I did not laugh, which I thought was good, so I did not mess up my body language and my messages were sent clearly. One thing that I liked about the task was that I remembered the types of interpersonal skills in communication and I used it in the role play without any written sheet in front of me. I think that the type of interpersonal skills I used was suitable and relevant to the situation. For example, when I was listening to Student A, I leaned forward and stayed quiet, listening and taking in what she was saying, and because it was a counselling session, where Student A spoke and I listened.I did not slouch on my chair or interrupt her when she was talking. Otherwise it would have been seen as rude or meant that I was not interested in what she was saying, which could lead to Student A getting annoyed and may not want to talk to me. Another good thing about this role play was that Student A was reflecting what I was communicating. For example , when I leaned forward and looked like I was showing interest in what Student A was saying, she looked more relaxed and started to express her problems more comfortably. But overall, out if the strengths in this role play, I do think that the interpersonal skills I used were effective and it was relevant to the health  and social care setting that I had used. One-to-one role play:WeaknessesI do think that I used an easier interpersonal skills, setting, and situation. I could have used more ‘difficult’ interpersonal skills, to make the task more challenging. For example I could have put the situation in a nursing care home, where I am looking after someone who is deaf and I have to use the British Sign Language, to make the task more challenging. I also did not use as many interpersonal skills, and I could have varied the skills I used to make sure that my role play was more interesting to watch.
